Jetaway Swap

I currently have a 1957 Oldsmobile 98 with a 1957 Jetaway. Does anyone know if it is possible to swap that transmission with a 1959 Jetaway? I realize the output ends of the transmissions would have to be swapped as well, seeing as the 1957 does not have a yoke at the transmission and the 1959 does. Are the output ends swappable?

Interesting that the 59 Jetaway has a yoke! You sure that someone just didn't slide it onto the splined output shaft? If all that is different and the yoke will slide off, I don't believe you will have much problem getting the newer unit into the 57. One note: you will NOT be able to push start the car with the newer transmission, NO REAR PUMP on the 59 and up JETAWAYS.

BTW: Where did you get the 59 Jetaway from, a 59 Olds? If so was it a Dynamic 88? If it was, is the engine available from the guy you got the trans?

The guy does tell me it is from a 1959 Dynamic 88. He no longer owns this car, however.

I highly recommend you call him, he is usually able to locate anything that I throw at him
