69 442 Manual to Automatic
69 442 Manual to Automatic
Hello everyone,
I have a 455 that is currently in a 69 442 with a Munice 4 speed. I want to take this motor out and put it in another 69 442 which has a TH400 auto trans in it. I understand from searching the site that going from auto to manual requires some machine work on the crank but I am not finding any information on what modifications need to me made (if any) going from a manual to automatic. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'd also go ahead and remove the clutch pivot ball from the block and put it away in storage somewhere you can find it later (ask me how I know). You'll need it, or someone will, when/if installing another engine in the 4-speed car. If you leave it in and sell the car, it'll be long gone. Same with that MT crankshaft you'd lose, but that's not an easy swap out so you could simply forego that as a cost of doing the swap.
