Hi all - I’ve got a few questions - i replaced my clutch this spring and added a longer adjustable clutch rod - works great! I replaced rear pinion yoke and it is so smooth on the highway as far as balance issues - my shifter was rattling bad before that - my shifter is a tad bit sloppy so I bought the hurst pit pass bushing kit - I bought metal but think I’d rather go nylon to soften up the tiny bit of vibration it still has - but the pit pass bushings are too big on the outer diameter (1/2” I believe) to fit in the shift levers - did the 72 come with bushings at all? And if so - does anyone have any solutions to this? - also ... since I reinstalled my transmission ... my back up lights are always on - where would you all start to look for the solution on that? Thanks in advance

 

Well - I figured out that I didn’t tighten the rod to the linkage from the steering column enough and it slipped out - I fixed that and back up light worked again - except the driver side back up light never worked - so I swapped bulbs and determined that it’s not the bulb.I pulled both bulbs and grabbed the test light - I managed to cause a spark on the one working lights socket and now it doesn’t work either - damn I’m good! - is there an independent fuse for back up lights? My trunk light and 4 ways and running lights all still work - any suggestions?

 

I’ve discovered that turn signal and back up lights are on the same fuse from searching the internet - rainy day - will have to wait to see - I did clean up the ground for the other always Inop back up light so hopefully that will just work now...

 

well.... it’s not the fuse - turn signals work - going to try and pull the connector at the back up light housing and see if it’s getting power - wish I was better at this stuff 😩

 

I tried using a test light to check for power in the wiring harness - I guess I don’t know how to use a test light 😫 - it lights up if I ground it and touch the positive battery Terminal - but If I ground it and poke either side of the connectors in the rear I get nothing - even the marker lights which are working - so I’m reading up to see how to use it

 

Ok ... I have power going to the center contacts of the back up light sockets when the car is shifted in reverse (both sockets) but bulbs will not illuminate - bulbs are good - back to more reading - if anyone has run into this scenario I sure could use some insight - thanks gang
