(65 delta88 425 th400) My turbo 400 has started acting up and I’m not sure what to go by reading a lot of stuff. Here’s the main issue, driving down the road in 3rd gear and it started revving up high and I thought I blew the tranny or something but if I gave it the beans a bit it picked up and went once I got it up too probably around 2800-3000 rpm where the second speed for the torque converter grabs otherwise it drones and slows down until I give it enough gas to grab it. Now in second gear it’s the same way, revving up until about 3000 rpm but I also noticed 1st to 2nd shift is pretty hard hitting. 1st gear acts normal. I manually shift it to make it alittle easier getting around town but that’s just my symptoms and I’ve got no idea.
Hi,
Not sure on the stator or stall shifting, there should be a way to override it, you would have to look at the electrical schematic and see what circuit powers to the switch, if you remove the power it should stay in low stall I would think.
The hard shift you describe in first sounds more like a bad modulator or vacuum source.
Best of luck with it
