65 442 4 speed trans.

Hello everyone, what is all involved in switching out an auto. to a 4 speed and what are the chances of obtaining a 4 speed trans for this car. Is it even practical. Thanks .

64/65 Muncie trans are not hard to locate. They have the speedo cable on the left drivers side unlike the 66 up right passenger side. The 64/65 Muncie uses a 7/8" cluster pin where the 66 up uses a 1". The main thing to look for is,make sure the cluster pin holes are not enlarged allowing the cluster to move. You can contact Dennis Maroudas dba DME @ 606-237-6648 He sells complete restored trans & shifters. He's a great guy and his work is top shelf & tell him Mike Richards sent you.

Depends on how original you want to keep the car. Most 65 guys put a 66 up OEM Hurst shifter in. I have a shifter, bellhousing and possibly some pedals and related parts.. You must have a provision for the pilot bearing. There is an after market bearing you can use without having to drill the crank. Email me for info or parts. pchopesq@aol.com
