63 starfire vacuum ?
I'm looking in my manual and don,t see any thing on the routing of the vacuum line to the transmission on my 63 starfire does anyone exactly know how this was routed?

I was under the impression that the Slim Jim in the 63 cars used a throttle valve rod and not a vacuum modulator. If it does have a vacuum modulator, it simply gets connected to any source of manifold vacuum. There is no magic here - all manifold vacuum ports are the same.

The vacuum canister you are seeing next to the dip stick is a collector for oil and to allow air to heat and cool in the transmission case. The Transmission uses the TV rod , the vacuum modulator valve on Olds starfires shows up in 65.

So this canister has no vacuum hook up to it at all sure did have me puzzled what this did just looks like a vacuum line. Just cant find any reference in my manuel about this thing at all. This is what happens when you don't take pics when taking things a part.

The transmission uses the TV rod that attaches to the gas linkage. Hopefully you didn't take it apart or readjust the yoke on the one end or bend it or change the threaded pin on the end at the transmission. These adjustments are a real pain to get correct and the Olds tools are helpful but still require you to drive and reset.
The filler tube and transmission case vent tube fit on the last stud of the exhaust manifold from 64 back on the 394 ( not sure about after 61)
