so the pump is whining in my 85 delta 88 and i have a th200 3 speed from a custom cruiser, i know they're not the best transmissions but since its laying around im thinking about swapping it in place of my 200r. Will it bolt right in? are the drive shafts going to be the same length?

I take it the 2004R is toast? The 200C should go right in, not used to swapping them in, just taking them out.

 

You might find the rear end is undergeared, other wise it should be a simple swap. I guess I'm preaching to the choir, but you are aware it won't take kindly to any heavy duty use?.

Its just going behind my stock 307 so it should be ok right? I am aware the rear end might be under geared from what I've read but what might that feel like? Will I notice it cruising on the highway? I might just wait til I can find a 200r for cheap

 

You have two problems. First, the TH200 is weaker than the 200-4R. You've got a heavy car with low numerical rear gears. That trans won't last long. The bigger problem is that the 200-4R uses a different trans crossmember than the TH200 or TH350. The 200-4R has the trans mount in the TH400 location. Due to the design of the frame in these cars, the crossmember is not straight across like it is in the older cars and you can't just slide it forward. It is physically shaped differently. You'd need the correct crossmember to fit the TH200.

 

So in ur opinion would it not be worth the trouble putting the th200 in the car?

 

Only you can answer if it's worth it to you. My point was that it is not a direct bolt-in. I wouldn't waste my time doing it.

My next question is Are the tranmission pumps for the th200 and the 200r the same? Bc I couldn't potentially change the pump on my 200r and be fine, I know I could buy a new one but my budget is severely limited

 

Nope

 

Perhaps your best bet is find a good transmission shop and have your current transmission overhauled. No problems fitting it, and it is designed from the outset to suit your car.
Maybe if you can't be without the car for more than a day or so finding a crossmember and swapping in a 250 as a temporary measure might work, but you will be doing everything twice.
