72 Cutlass Supreme transmission question

72 Cutlass Supreme transmission question
I am parting out a 72 Cutlass Supreme which has a good functional TH350 transmission. This trans looks a bit different along the top of the bell housing than the TH350 that came out of my 69 Cutlass.
I was told that this transmission in the 72 is a TH350 that would bolt up to
not only BOP but also Chevrolet and possibly others.
Perhaps this is one of the transgender trannys we've been hearing so much about lately.
Anyone have any knowledge about the fitment of this transmission and how
to tell them apart from a "standard" TH350.

Yeah, you just have a universal bellhousing TH350. They were very common in later years. They match the BOP and the Chevy pattern, and have the high peak in the middle like a Chevy.

My exact term was "unisex" case.
As noted, they were common in the late 1970s and up, when GM played fast and loose with engine source vs. car make. In any case (yeah, pun only slightly intended), the unisex TH350 is not original to a 1972 Olds. Check the trans tag. That will tell you where it came from originally.

Well I was gonna go with the unisex tranny but I wanted to be PC and thought that transgender tranny would be more appro po at least here in North Carolina. And the picture thing went right over my head
