Cross Member interchange

I got a call from a fellow restoring a 1970 442. He needs a cross member so that he can install his drivetrain but his is missing.

The only cross member that I have left in my surplus parts inventory is from a 1965 442. Can someone tell me if this cross member will work in his 1970 442. I suspect not but let the experts share.

Thanks in advance.

Is his car a hardtop/coupe or a convertible?

Hardtop

It is a hardtop & so was the 65 442 that the X member was from.

The 65 X member was from my 1965 442 that was originally a 2 speed auto.

I checked the GM parts book and the same cross member is used for hardtops for the years 67 to 72. Convertibles for 67 -72 and the HD frame in 67 take another. 1964-65 use a different part again, as do the 66 models. So, unfortunately it won't work for him. They must have changed the design in 67 to accommodate the TH400, as a guess.
