Looking for Olds 4GC and Slim Jim Expert in DFW
Hello All,
I have a 1964 Olds 98. The Slim Jim Transmission was recently re-built and the carb was rebuilt by me. The issue I am facing is that when I accelerate from a stop, some times the car shuts down. The other issue I am having is that the transmission seems to not be shifting at the proper time and sometimes when I am driving into my garage uphill on the driveway, I have to press the gas very slow, if I press it hard it will shut off. When I drive the car in the highway or past 1st gear it seems to drive fine.
I am looking for someone with experience on two areas.
1. Get the carb tuned properly
2. Get the TV rod setting to the transmission setup correctly
Regards

Can't help on local service but it sounds like your accelerator pump may not be working, might be a simple fix you could do yourself. check to see if you are getting a fuel squirt in the carb when the throttle is opened.
Make sure you put the right throttle body gaskets in the 4GC. Some have extra vacuum bleeds cut in them that will create hard to diagnose problems, and uphill bogs are one of them.
Also check distributor vacuum advance.

The rest of us in Texas (and elsewhere) with 4GC's and Slim Jims could use this information, can you share with the group?
