1970 Cutlass Supreme Ring Gear Bolt Torque

Installing ring gear. It's a 2.56 LS. Looking for correct ring gear bolt torque. I've seen/heard anywhere from 50-65 but my 1970 CSM is saying 85. That sounds a bit much. Thanks.

The "seen/heard" torque specs are based on what ? The CSM is the standard unless there has been a change from Oldsmobile. Others can chime in.

Thanks. I'm referencing other open source articles, videos and online reference material from "seemingly" reliable sources. But I agree, the CSM should be the ultimate source. I guess it was just the ~20 ft lb variation in the numbers that had me wondering.
