Transmission Yoke Help Needed Please

I am trying to remove the drive shaft from my 1956 oldsmobile 88. I have the drive shaft disconnected from the rear end. I can't seem to get the yoke to come out of the transmission.

Is there a snap ring or something the shop manual dosen't list that I am not seeing?

Thanks for any help.

Should be a slip yoke. The rear seal may have cut a groove in it over time and you may just have to yank it out.

You weren't kidding, after much screwing around and trying not to break anything I just slipped a wrench in between the rear u-joint and drive shaft and gave her a solid pull.
