Trans slipping at 30-40 mph

Hey everyone I swapped my blown original th-350 on my 72 small block cutlass. I bought a tci streetrodder and the vacum modulator hose that connects from my trans to the carburetor the carberutor used to act as a vacuum but it isn’t sucking any air. So I’m thinking that’s why it won’t shift and why It’s slipping. Fluid levels and quality are good. (There’s a trace amount of that black fluid from the old trans but I will be changing the fluid again we already put 12 qts in it) any other place I could stick hook it up to? I’ve read intake manifold but I will be swapping that next week. And I’ve heard of people connecting it to the distributor. If any can help it would be much appreciated.

You can connect the vacuum modulator line to any full/manifold vacuum port including the front of the carb. You can T into the distributor line also. Make sure the tubing is clear before hooking it up.

The carb isn’t sucking in air and I’m getting a new manifold and carb Monday so distributor sounds like a beater option. How do I go about doing that?

So I messed around with it this morning looked all around the manifold and carb. Couldn’t find anything so I checked the distributor but there wasn’t any suction from there either.

There are 2 ports on the carb, 1 above the throttle blades and 1 below.

I don't see why getting a new manifold makes any difference - it's just a rubber hose that slips onto a hose barb. The intake manifold should have several threaded bosses where you can screw in a hose fitting and hook up a rubber hose.
