Trans shop/builder recomendations?

Can anyone recommend a quality trans shop/builder?
I'm looking to purchase either a Th-400 or a 4l80e (I realize the conversion) that will go behind a BBO putting out 500+hp/600+tq.
Car will be an everyday driver/weekend strip warrior.
I've looked into TCI (heard some horror stories) and Hughes.
Are there other that you highly recommend? As I want a quality build from the get go and not have to deal with a bunch of issues.
I'm in Cali, so west coast is preferable, but not necessary.

A th400 is pretty simple to build with little mods it will handle your power output. Buy books and build it your self.

Extreme Automatics, Jake's Performance and CK Performance all build both trans. The 4L80E needs a $600+ controller to auto shift. Where are you from?
