I just got done resealing a th400 out of a 1976 98 to replace the th375 in my 65 cutlass, the torque converter from the th400 had some dirt in it from sitting off the transmission for some time before I got it. So I bought a cheap one from orieleys. It says it will work on a 1976 98 with a 455 but the outer diameter is 1.75" rather than the 1.875 on the comverters from the th400 and th375. I am leaning toward returning the new one and using the one off the th375 since it's clean inside and out. My question is am I wrong in assuming the new converter with the smaller od on the hub won't work. I can't imagine it will seal, I also couldn't get it over the splines but don't have a good way to measure down inside the converters. Thanks for looking.
