New guy with M21 shifter question
As new guy on the block, hello to everyone. New to forum and new to 442 ownership.
I recently purchased a 1965 442 with M21 4 speed. The shifter is worn out and needs rebuilding. Hopeing someone has been down this road before and has recommendations.
Thanks

That's odd. I know of several 64/65 cars with the later OEM Hurst shifter. Do you have a picture of the Hurst shifter and mounting plate>? I talked a buddy today and he has a 65 and his has the Hurst shifter and he thought it came in the car from the factory. Mounting plates make a lot of difference & if you have the wrong one it can be the issue.

Actually I think I figured it out. Didn’t see mounting bracket with the other items in the installation kit and with no instructions with it at all, I was trying to mount shifter to transmission, not bracket. Obviously won’t fit. Didn’t see a bracket so don’t know if it wasn’t in the kit or got shoved under something. I’ll get to work on the car again tomorrow and will look for a bracket.
Thanks to all who helped.
