leaking speedo cable at trans

1969 cutlass
i am getting a drip out of the end of the speedo cable housing that screws into the speedo gear housing cover on trans (th350). i replaced the gear housing 5 yrs ago when swapped out speedo gears in trans. Fluid is dripping out of female housing end of cable. Would a worn speedo shaft not be making a good seal with small o ring in the housing? Like i stated, the speedo gear housing and seals are only 5 yrs old. Speedo cable is original.
thanks eric

The only way to know is to pull the housing and driven gear and inspect them. At that point, you MIGHTASWELL replace the seals on the housing when it's out.

Agree with replace the seals and yes it can be a worn driven speedo gear. If available I'd replace the both the seals and the driven gear.

BTW, that undercarriage looks quite respectable! Did you finish it?
