How can I tell what transmission is in my car

How can I tell what transmission is in my car

Hi I have a 1972 olds cutlass 350 rocket 4bbl and I don't know what trans I have does not have kick down linkage just 1 vacuum line going down to the trans does this mean I have a 400 turbo

Cutlass 350 from the factory would have a TH350 trans. Are you sure your kickdown linkage isn't just missing?

It could be missing but it does not look like there any thing missing from either side of the carburetor

That sure sounds like a th400.

The th350 pan is square with one corner cut off.

The th400 pan is an odd shape. Some people say its "looks like the state of Texas"

Not on Olds. They use a cable on the gas pedal just above the throttle cable. Look at your pedal if there are two cables it a 350. If there is an electric switch then it's a 400.

I've got a similar question, the trans in my car came out of a 85' Delta 88, its the 4 speed w/OD, what is the "name" of that trans??
