His n hers swap from column shift

Hey All, when changing from a column shift to a floor shift obviously I need the shifter the console and the two brackets? Or just one bracket down by the Trans.
I don’t want to have the car pot lol so I’m trying to get all the parts first and then go with it.
I might’ve mentioned this before, but the hardest part for me is figuring out the neutral safety and reverse lights. I’m not quite sure about the 7172 column. Everybody says to go with that one because it’s on the Shifter or something like that I don’t know it’s all good. I can start it up and driving drive the car anyway if it’s down for a couple of days to order another part ha ha

Or is the one bracket that is there the same as the floor shift bracket and you just need the one that holds the cable?

if you're talking about console mounting brackets, the rear bracket under the compartment is the one that mostly anchors the console to the floor, and the very front one secures it to the floor hump by the firewall, if you use it. Actually, between the rear and the mounting points at the shifter base, it becomes pretty stable even without the very front bracket (which I ended up not using due to having also installed a heavier mass-backing carpet set when I had the car apart for the my column-to-factory console swap.

71-72 cars had NSS on the column nearest to the firewall - when I swapped in a reman factory tilt floor column into my '72, it was a direct swap of the switch from my prior column to the new one, no mods needed. The column-mounted NSS has some side-to-side play for the switching adjustment, so it has be set just right for the slider to hit the correct contacts between gear changes.

so I guess what you’re saying is I use the 7172 column you still have to hook up the reverse lockout which controls the neutral safety switch got it and no, I was not talking about the mounts for the console itself. Those are simple.
did you get a new speedo or did you use the face plate? Only that they sell?

Essentialy no changes to the existing linkages but for the addition of the console-related links under the car for the cable. I also installed a restored correct floor-shift speedo

As long as your back drive linkage is present and functioning, the exisiting NSS should work fine for detents & reverse lights. It is possible that an adjustment may be needed with the shifter change.
