Took the axles ot of 1985 442 aand one of the differential spider gears fell out...no idea how. HOW do you put it back in when both axles are turning opposite directions? ARRGH.....any help is greatly appreciated...

 

Mmm, yeah, you have to get it started so that when you turn the gears the spider moves into the correct position. It shouldn't be difficult - it fell out easily, right?

 

Yes, it fell out easily....should I be taking the other ring gear out?....oops, I meant to say spider...good catch

 

ring gear? Hell no, if that spider fell out it can fall back in.

you do have to get both out or almost out, then start it [them] in, then turn one axle to "walk" the little gears in place at the same time.

Why was the spider gear shaft removed? Is this one of them type C designs?

 

I pulled the axle to replace the backing plates.....and yes two c clips

 

Got it back in ....I was trying to put it in with the other spider gear in...ty for the help
