Bogging Down/Losing Power

I took my ‘67 C/S out today. Ran fine to the parts store, but when I drove home, it would seem to lose power and bog down around 40-50 mph. If I put it in neutral, the engine would rev just fine. Stock 330 with Jetaway.

Sounds fuel related...check the fuel filter, hoses at the pump and tank for cracking causing air to leak in instead of pulling fuel. If adding fuel to the tank makes it run ok that indicates a partially clogged sock filter in the tank. Is it low 1/3 or less on fuel now? If all is good then possibly a fuel pump, check its output or try replacing it.

Good luck!!!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I just replaced the hose from the line to the pump because it was leaking. Recently put a new tank, pickup, and the tank was about half full.

The funny thing was if I put it in neutral, the engine revved just fine.

Revving in neutral works because no load requires less fuel. Double check any recent repairs first e.g., hose clamps at pump and tank.

Good luck!!!

Make sure the switch pitch and the torque converter is operating correctly. Its triggered by the switch on the throttle linkage at the firewall.
