Will this torque converter be ok?

Its a B and M Torquemaster 19-2100RPM Stall converter.
supposedly like new. For now it will be a mild build motor. 455.
Or is that not a high enough stall speed

it all depends on what you want to do with it. keep in mind that the rating on a converter is guess. the heavier the car or the more torque the motor makes the higher the stall will be. my 68 442 has a decent 400 and the converter is rated at 1800-2000. I like the way mine runs as it is not too loose for the street.

it is just a slang term. the "looser" the converter the higher the stall. when someone says it is a tight converter they mean it stalls at a low RPM. a motor that makes good low end power does not need a very high stall converter. the reason for a higher stall is so the engine can reach its power band before the load of the car pulls down the engine. some engines (mostly small blocks or real high power big blocks) dont make power till 3000 rpm or more so you need a loose converter that will let the engine rev up to that point before it starts to load up and transfer all the power to the tires
