What Trans.
What Trans.
I have a 66 delta 88 2DR HT 425Ci i've been told it is a TH400 and is common to have an elect. kick down. I was messing with the fusses and broke the one marked trans. it was a 9V when i drove the car it wouldn't kick into 2ND had to shift it. I finnally replaced the fuss and now it works fine again. Stomp on it and it kicks down just fine it is a 3 SPD auto TH400 or ????? thanks for aany info WEBBISH
Is this a good tranny love the way it shifts real smooth i've had cable shifts and they can be a pain just easier to shift, but that was a floor shift Camero I guess I'm gettin older because I like the ride to be softer these days and more room to spred out but still love to feel the power from that 425BB really like the site thanks P.S. what is switch-pitch just the name for elect.kick down?
These are Turbo 400s, which all have ELECTRIC kickdown. That's why it woudn't downshift when the fuse was out. You probably also saw some weird stuff with your idiot lights since they generally feed off the TRANS-GAGES fuse.
The switch-pitch part of the torque converter changes stator blade angle to match engine load requirements. Good idea in theory and great when it's working. Switch pitch was used 1965-67 in Buick, Olds and Cadillac applications.
