V-8 350 in a 1965 F-85?
Hello I would soon buy an F-85 1965 with a V-6 225 Buick and a Jetaway transmission. But the V-6 is seized and I would replace it with a V-8 350 1973 oldsmobile. Will I be able to install the transmission Jetaway directly on the V-8? Is the flexplate V-8's will? Otherwise what are the modifications? Thank you!
You will need the V8 engine frame mounts for starters I would think...olds V8 for olds V8 ...Flexplate for V8...Not sure if the trans will bolt right up but it wont be calibrated to handle to V8 power...Might have to move the trans crossmember as well...No big deal to this swap I dont think...
What he said. The frame mounts for the Olds motor are different - you'll need the correct mounts. You'll need the flexplate, accessory brackets, starter, exhaust manifolds, etc for the Olds motor. The Jetaway will bolt to the Olds motor. You may want to upgrade the radiator. Since the 350 is externally identical to the 330 that was factory-installed in these cars, it's just about a bolt-in swap.
So if the rocket 350 1973 comes complete with the flexplate, starter, alternator and brackets, I only had the engine installed on the transmission and everything will work, but I just have to change my engine mounts. If I take the engine mounts of the 330 is that they are screwed directly onto the 350 in the same place? Where it's possible to buy engine supports for 330 if I need?
I think the frame mounts for the 65 are the same for big and small block...64-68 at least I would think are all the same....you can buy them new..just dont recall where...www.allamericanclassics.com
Correct. In fact, any 1964-68 frame mounts and any 1969-1972 small block Olds mounts are interchangeable (though the later ones look a little different).
