unicase th350

what all vehicles came with the unicase th350 with non lockup converter? i've only seen 1 in my life and the guy wont let go of it lol. thanks for the help.

when you say "unicase" do you mean dual pattern as in BOP and ch*vy? If so I got one that came out of my '70 F85. It was behind a straight six. Its for sale also $75 82k ran great. JKaz

yea, the case that has both chevy and bop pattern. too bad you werent so far away i'd take it off your hands lol.

You can get adapter plates from distributors like Summit. These plates allow you to bolt a Chevy transmission to an Olds and vice versa.

i thought about using those plates, but the thought of having only 4 bolts to hold the trans to the adapter or the adapter to the motor kinda lures me away lol. future plans was to put a healthy smallblock chevy in it, but i might just go with an olds 350 or something. thanks for the info tho

How do you figure that there are only four bolts? The dowel pins and bottom two bolts are common to both bolt patterns. Those two bolts are also the ones that are in tension (assuming you're using the two side engine mounts and single trans mount and not the early car style mounts). There are four ADDITIONAL bolts to the adapter plate, but those really see no appreciable load.

what it says in the instruction to bolt that plate to a chevy engine, is to use 4 of the bolts to bolt the plate to the motor (originally 6 to hold trans to motor) and 4 more to hold trans to adapter plate( originally 6 bolts to hold trans to engine). what im saying is you are basically using 4 bolts (top 2 and bottom 2) to hold the trans on to the adapter plate, which imo wouldnt be as strong as using 6 like the factory did. kinda confusing lol.

it actually bolts all 6 trans bolts to the plate unlike the tci plate does.

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to use a SBC engine with an Olds transmission. I doubt the SBC has enough torque to get the car to creep forward in gear.

Mike, I read those instructions as indicating that you have to use the 4 special button head bolts provided in the "B" locations and the 4 stock bolts in the "C" and "D" locations bolting the transmission to the block for a total of eight bolts and two alignment pins. Maybe I read it incorrectly though.

yea that TCI version had 2 less holes to mount, so it was basically only putting 4 bolts from the trans case to the adapter. the Trans-Dapt one actually had all 6 holes for the trans to actually bolt to the plate.

Well that's a crappy design. Use an adapter with all six. Of course, the fact still remains that the bottom two bolts take all the tension load anyway.
