transmission rebuild?
What would be a ballpark figure for getting a turbo 350 tranny rebuilt if I take it out of the car first?nothing fancy. Just maybe a shift kit put in.

I had this done for my TH350 on my Pontiac I removed myself back in 2008. I had a shift kit put in, kolene steels, and red alto clutches. No hard parts were needed. That was about $800 out the door. The torque converter added another $120 and the deep hughes aluminum pan was $169. So I have about $1100 into the trans. I don't know what the labor rates are in your area, but that should give you at least some idea.
Good luck.

I don't know what current prices are in your area but a little homework about who the good transmission guys are might be a good idea. You won't get a good job cheap, make sure you give your money to someone who deserves it.

You also may find that there may not be an upcharge or at the very least minimal for the trans shop to do all the work. Also with you doing the reinstall there maybe some warranty issues down the road.
I've also seen completely rebuilt transmissions with minor performance upgrades for around $800 (Jeggs, Summiit,...)

i am getting ready to have a th350 done and was quoted $700 to $750 with converter and upgraded sprags. this is in Indiana and the guy is one of the best transmission builders out there. there may be some as good as him but none better. most transmissions he is higher than anywhere else but 350s and 400s he is the cheapest.
