Transmission identification help...

Looking for identification of a transmission. I know that it is from a 1964 Olds. It has a aluminum colored tag and reads OF64-24405

Any help identifying what kind of car-steering shift or console would be of great help- Thanks in advance.....

The '64 service manual says that the OF code trans is a Turbo Hydramatic for a Delmont with a 350 engine, 2 barrel low and 4 barrel high compression.

I think that console and column shift use the same trans?

There were neither Delmonts nor 350s in the 1964 model year. Better check that manual again.

Nor Turbo HydraMatics in Oldsmobiles. Cadillac/Buick Electra only that year.

I'll try to remember to look in the 64 CSM tonight. Console or column shift makes no difference in application.

Thanks for the reply bluevista- But I agree with the others. I believe this is a roto-hydramatic 375 Model10, but I do not have a 1964 service manual. I just want to confirm the numbers again.

I know that the color of the tag makes a difference as well-Here it is again

Aluminum colored tag--- OF64-24405

Here's what the shop book says, and it doesn't show an OF transmission in 64? All ID numbers start 64-1001, so I'd say ya definitely have a 1964 transmission, and O indicates Oldsmobile.

Prefix O on black plate: 2bbl carb low compression in 3400 series (Dynamic 88) except 3457 (Jetstar I)

Prefix OC on orange plate: 2-bbl standard compression 3400 series exc 3457

Prefix OA on light green plate: 4-bbl standard compression 3400 (exc 3457), 3500 (S88), 3800 (Ninety Eight) series

Prefix OB on dark green diagonal stripe plate: 4-bbl carb std compression 3457, all 3600 (Starfire), 3900 (Ninety Eight Custom Sports Coupe) and L75 option (Starfire engine) in 3500 & 3800 series

Prefix OCH on tan plate: 2-bbl heavy duty 3400 exc 3457

Prefix OBH on yellow diagonal stripe plate: 4-bbl heavy duty all series

rocketraider-

Thanks for the reply- However I just went out and re-checked the darn tag and it is as was posted above. You know it doesn't really matter, other than I will be using this transmission to bolt up to my 63 Starfire. I have checked everything. Linkage, driveshaft splines, etc. etc. and everything seems to mount up as if this was from a 63 Starfire. The only thing that looks different is that the 64 trans does not have a -what looks like a speedo mount on the tailshaft like the 63 does. However the speedo runs off of the left front wheel. So I don't know As far as I can tell everything will work out just fine. The only thing that I do not know about is the console shift and once I get the 64 trans in I will see what type of rod will need to fabricated to make it work, as the one that came from the 63 Starfire was sitting in the trunk all rusted out and bent 90-degrees. Maybe I can use that rod as a template.. Wish me luck

Only automatic used by Oldsmobile in '64 was the Roto Hydramatic. Which is not a very favorable unit.

That would be true for the 394 cars only. The A-body cars and the Jetstar 88 got the ST300 in 1964.
