Trans temp sensor location on 200 4r?????

I've just ordered an autometer trans temp gauge and was wondering if the 200 4r would have a place to screw in the sender??

Drop the pan and drill a hole in it from the side. Make sure the sensor doesn't hit anything when it's fully installed.

I have seen 'Tee's' that will splice into the 'hot' oil line coming out of the transmission cooler line going to the cooler. In fact I have one that goes with an old B&M trans temp kit I plan on installing one day. The oil going to the cooler line is the top one in the 200-R4, contrary to most other GM automatics. Splicing into the line gives you the instant temperature coming out of the converter, but the pan mount gives you a nice overall transmission temperature. Howie

When I've installed similar, the sensing unit installs with a nut inside the pan and includes a gasket. The instructions with your sensor will tell you what to do.

Oddball: what brand gauge did you use? I have an autometer and the sensor only has a threaded end (no nut or gasket), But it seems like it'd be easy enough to find a nut and some sort of high temp rubber gasket i suppose.

It's been a long time since I messed with one. You might find some oil drain plug gaskets that are the right size.

CK performance told me to mount mine in the trans cooler return line.
I installed a tee just before the trans.

How accurate is the tee fitting for temps?

I don't agree with that.

All that will tell you is how well the trans cooler is working, I would put the sensor in the oil pan. My reasoning is I want to know the overall temperature of my transmission, oil straight from the cooler sending line is likely to be hotter than in the transmission, in the return line it should be cooler.
How hot the oil being sent to the clutch packs etc is the information I want.

Roger.
