Trans additives??

I have a '73 Cutlass with a 350 and a T350 trans...just a bone stock car we drive about one or two times a month...just our "go get ice cream" car.

I drove it today and when I got back I figured I'd check the transmission...No problems but just had never checked it since I got the car...I had it serviced about 3 years ago and have only put about 2000 miles total on it since then...I don't really know if the transmission was even checked at that time...I parked it...ran it back and forth through all the gears a couple of times and checked it with the engine running and nice and warm..it had about 1/3 inch up the stick (not really in the normal range but not 'dry")..it was nice and clean pink and did not smell bad at all....I'd normally just add a quart of ATF Dextron II but wondered about a 21 ounce bottle of Lucas transmission fix...

I've used the Lucas stuff in a big series EL80 trans in my 3/4 ton surbaban with 250 K miles on it..it has never been any issues. Just curious if it might be a decent idea for the Olds since it sits so much...any thoughts?

I'm not much of an "additive" person but the transmission shop that I've gone to for years said it's good stuff...
I read here about using a quart of F type to get a firmer shift but the olds is just a easy driver...never run it hard so not interested in harder shifting.

Thanks

I'm not a fan of trans additives and have never tried them. Lucas is a reputable company. 1 qt of type F is not going to make your shifts crisper nor hurt the trans.

I think you made the right decision. Most of those products are snake oil.
