Torque converter
I have to replace my converter and rebuild the trans. I am having a hard time picking a stall converter. from 2000 rpm through 5500 Rpm the motor makes at start 2000rpm /463 fpt fly and about the same at 5500 rpm. At 4500 it makes 532 fpt. The cam duration @.050 is 224 on intake and 234 on exhaust. I am stuck between 24 to 2800 or 2800 to 3200. I was going to get a B&M holeshot 3000 10 inch. It seems to be able to handle 550 ftp. I have not had a dyno run so the Torque may be well above 530ftp. The hp is around 500 but that is not going tyo puish this slug down the track. Any sugestions would be welcome.

I would stay away from the TCI / B/M mail order house one size fits all converters. Both can make a quality race converter but I have seen a lot of their cheap stuff torn up pretty bad.
Best bet is a custom converter but they can blow out 700-800.00 from your wallet before you blink.
Best inexpensive converter is Hughes. They have a 2500 and 3000 in thier HD series that sells for about $300.00 for the less stall and $429.00 for the 3000. Summit is listing different part numbers for TH350 and TH400 BOP but I can't imagine why. I would call Hughes direct to see what part# you need. For great performance and better streetability use the 2500 for all out ET with decent steet manners do the 3000.
FYI I used the 3000 in a 800HP blown street truck that was not intended to make that much power at first. Since he had already bought it he decided to use it thinking we would thrash it. After a year and a half of abuse its still in there.

Contact a good custom builder and give them all your specs. I use Continental out of CA. There are others, 3500 stall right where I wanted it and I don't know its there till I need it. It was $600 delivered. JKaz

Just had my trans gone through. Transmisions are a mystery to me. anyways the trans was rebuilt last year. The planetary gear was shot and the bans burnt so I suppose you have to be careful about who does your trans. Thsi guy was the same guy that thought he new how to rebuild my 455. After 2 tries I moved the motor and trans to D&S in Rochester hills MI.
About ten grand later I learned the hard way. The good thiong is now every thing is correct and I am ready to put the pedal to the metal all 500 hp and 600ftlbs of torque!!

You will be a lot better off than the B/M you were thinking of.
Well I ended up going with the 10inch Trans specialties inc. out of Pennsylvania. They made me up a 10 inch 2600 to 2900 stall. I believe it was around $438 including the baloon plates. I do not know if any of you have ever used them. I have heard some good things, at least I hope so. Have to let you know how it all works.
