Throw Out Bearing

Putting in new clutch. New set came with a new bearing. It is shorter than my old one. I figured, it was probably for a Chevy. I see the Olds manual shows two different sizes in the 70 manual, and the longer one for the 442. I called my parts guy at Carquest, and he says his book shows them using the same bearing, but he does not have one in stock, so I can't go look at it first. I'm looking and thinking, that I guess that if there is enought addjustment, you could probably use the shorter, and readjust? Am I right?

All my stick Olds cars take the short one but I do not know if it is the shortest one made...
