throttle/trans cable bracket
throttle/trans cable bracket
Can anyone let me know where to get the bracket(throttle/trans cable) that is needed to convert over to the 200r4 transmission in a 68 Cutlass S. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

Not sure if it is the same and if this is what you are talking about but here

TCI's bracket is pretty nice. That gets the TV cable mounted solidly.
You still need to attach the cable to the carb. That is far more complicated for a stock qjet, but don't know what carb you're running. Bowtie overdrives has various options that may or may not be applicable. One way for a stock Olds qjet is to get a later-year base plate and swap over the bracket. This requires machining, mine is being done by Sparky (sparky carburetors).

Is it not true that you can take a late model
Q-jet, say from a vintage 80's Cutlass with a 307 & remove the
primary flaps, slide the armature out and use it on
the exsiting 68 Q-jet and have the factory set up and be able
to use the 68 baseplate? This is what I am hoping to do with
my 69 442 and 200 4R. I have already found the bracket that
bolts to the back bolts of the carb. Didn't mean to hijack the thread...

Possibly.
Avoid the electronic carbs I guess if you want to swap entire base plates, because the Accel. Pump rod is fatter on the e-carbs, turns ugly.
SHAFT removal and swap might just do it.
Also, beware the 70-72 trans cable which has a smaller square sheath mount, same size as throttle cable, it was to fit into place at the firewall/ pedal, not at the carb bracket.

Good info. Thanks Bill, Chris.
I have a later model chebby carb
that I maybe able to use the shaft from.
I set it on my D-2 intake and with the gasket
it just clears the heat crossover. It may get to
hot and fry the cable though, rats...
