I don't think you will find an actual build date for your transmission anywhere on the housing. You might find casting dates for the housing or tail piece but not an actual build date for the transmission itself. You will (or should) find a VIN derivative that ties the transmission to the car, though, if the tranny is original to the car. That number will be on the driver side, on a narrow vertical surface just above the pan, on the housing between two vertical ribs.
