TH350 pan removal
Have not had a chance to crawl under yet, wondering if the tranny pan can be removed without moving the crossmember to get at the row of bolts behind it.....68 Convertible, th350 stock crossmemeber. Thanks!

Yes. You may need a flex joint and or a tapered extension with a short socket for the two around the trans mount area.
Do yourself a favor and purchase a new pan with the drain plug. Or install the drain plug kit into the existing pan. Makes this process much cleaner.

IIRC should be accessible at worst with a 1/4" drive 1/2" swivel socket. Cannot remember ever dropping a crossmember to get to them. If access is too tight it would be easier to raise the tail of the trans a little by loosening the mount.
Good luck!!!

Unsure if there is a delta between your 68' and my 71', but I just performed an R&R on my TH350 filter/gasket and the rearward bolts were fully accessible as the trans cross-member (on mine) has cutouts enabling you to get to the bolts.

The only time you will need to raise the transmission off the crossmember to remove the pan is if the transmission mount is rotten and collapsed. Of course, when you raise trans up to get the clearance to remove the pan, do yourself a favor and replace the trans mount also!!
