TH 400 Problem

Hi guys, I was wondering if you could help me with something. The other day my car wasn't shifting right, so I checked the fluid and it was low, it took a quart and a half to fill it. I still had some trouble with it today, and I'm starting to wonder if it has anything to do with the high pitched whining sound it's making. It used to go away after a bit, but now it does it pretty much all the time. Could this be a sign of a pump or torque converter going out?

Its a sign it needs at least a filter change. If the fluid is not a pretty red color and smells burnt its a sign it needs more than that.

Before I added to it, I noticed the color was very dull.

The whine generally means its having trouble pulling fluid through the pump.

Thanks for the tip. I'll take it in and get the fluid/filter changed
