TCI's 350 behind a 330

I have a 65 cutlass w/a 330 and jetaway want to install TCI's th350 / bop. does the 330 have 6 bolt belhousing or 5 bolt? the tci need;s a 27 spline for the trans yoke, and its a 6 bolt pattern, am thinking the the drive shaft is a 27 spline, do I need to replace the flex plate to fit the tci convertor? I know this is a lot of questions but have gotten a lot of miss info here locally I think, so if someone has done this swap would greatly love the right anwser's. the trans is the short tail shaft and needs the trans dipstick tube which I'll get billet specilities, flex tube assy. thank you .... jim

I would not waste my time with a TCI transmission. Just get a BOP core have it built locally. If you don't know where to go ask around at the track to see who build a good transmission in your area

The 330 has the same six bolt BOP bellhousing bolt pattern as every other 64-90 Olds motor.

Go with a local trans builder, ask around you'll find a good one. It will be less exspensive and you will have a local warranty.

I really want to agree here...trust me I do.

7 years ago I bought a TCI 400 for my Rallye.
It had a mild 425...13.05 best ET.
(3400 Ultimate converter)
Ran it 5 years.

Then I dropped in my 469....2 years ago...
and waited for that TCI to blow!
11.4 is now my best ET and I probably have
about 2500 brutally grooling street miles on it
just this summer alone...
I know it's just waiting for me to get really far from home.

I can't kill this thing.

I have never owned one but had to deal with way too many pissed off customers that bought them when I was managing a speed shop many years ago. They may have improved since but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

The 64-67 Olds motors use a different crank flange bolt pattern than the 68-90 motors, so you need the flexplate that goes with the 330. The converters will bolt up in either case, so use the one that fits your intended use of the car. Shift linkage will work fine, but you won't be able to access first gear manually since your column shifter only has two forward gear positions (you'll get D and S, not L). You may need to change speedo gears in the trans depending on your axle ratio and tire diameter. The speedo cable should hook right up to the TH350.

You know, TH 350s are almost as strong as the TH 400. I have known plenty of people that just drop the pan and put a filter, shift kit, and pan gasket on the transmission and drive them for 10s of thousands of miles.
