Switch Pitch 400 Question

What was the last year Oldsmobile produced the switch pitch 400? The tag on mine reads 78 OB 8156. So I know it's a 78 year model and from an Oldsmobile but what does the B stand for?

1967 was the last year of the switch pitch trans.

But my date stamp is 78 and it is a switch pitch trans, has all the right parts and goes thru the motions at WOT.

Likely a rebuilder started with a 1978 core and put in the parts to create a switch-pitch unit.

Yes this was a common upgrade back in the day when the parts were still relatively easy to find. 67 was definitely the last year.
