Strange tv cable phenomenon 200r4

Recently I was driving my 84 olds 98 on the highway and the accelerator got stuck wide open. I put in neutral and shut it down and pulled off to the shoulder. The return spring popped off and the linkage for the carb was hung up on itself. I put the spring back on and unstuck the linkage and started driving but it wasn’t shifting right bc the tv cable came out of adjustment so I stopped and re adjusted the tv cable by depressing the tab pushing the cable back and then moving the carb linkage to wide open allowing the cable to self adjust. But now something doesn’t feel like it did before. The car still shifts but it doesn’t feel the same as it did before at low speeds. So I adjusted the cable again the same way and it felt better but after I drove the car a little I stopped and pushed the linkage on the carb to wide open and the cable adjusted out little more. I drove it around to see how it was acting and Stopped and self adjusted the tv cable again this time I moved the carb linkage from all the way closed to wide open a couple times to make sure the cable was all the way adjusted and it didn’t adjust out any more it but then when I parked the car I moved the linkage back and forth again to make sure and this time it adjusted out again so my question is. Is it possible I stretched the tv cable when the carb linkage got stuck.
the carb I’m running is a quadrajet from a 77 olds I pulled the throttle cable out of a 1980 lesabre to make this combination work
I have a b and m lock up controller and a vacuum distributor. The car runs and drives good and the transmission still shifts the only reason it bothers me is bc I know the tv cable adjustment is crucial to the life of the transmission. It’s a 35 year old trans tho so if I have to get it rebuilt at the end of the season I will

Try adjusting the TV tighter one or two clicks and see if it firms up the upshifts.
Make sure the carb and rear bracket are snug (not over tight) to the intake. Also, check for vacuum leaks. You could have sucked the carb base gasket in when the engine went WOT.

Still not good? Did said 35-year-old trans ever get serviced?
Time to take the pressure readings if it's still acting up.

FYI next time this happens just shut the engine off with the trans in drive so you don't blow the engine.
