st300 - Missing a wire

Hi folks. This is once piece of one of them MAW mushrooms. Today's adventure is going over the transmission while the engine is out to combat oil leaks. I cleaned it up some and went inside er. At first I thought I found a crack in the case that might be causing leaks, but as it doesn't go all the way through maybe it isn't the source of leaks. I plan to patch it with good ol' JB Weld. I'd rather not spend the $$ on getting it welded.
Then looking inside the pan which I've only had off once for 1 fluid and filter change, discovered I'm missing a wire. I figure I can splice in and solder additional wire and be good. I'll put shrink wrap over the soldered joint. Both solenoids click when I give them power which is good.
Any tips or suggestions for what I'm working on here?
Oh yeah, also tried to provide some pics to be instructional in case someone else wants to know about taking apart what I have.

I got some longer bolts and cut the head off to be a guide for putting the pump back in later so I slide it straight in and don't bugger up the gasket inside. There's 2 holes with threads in the pump that you put bigger bolts in to pull out the pump. There's a real tool for doing this but 2 vise grips did it for me after several tugs.

Looking at this again, in the 2nd pic here, wow that hole sure looks jagged. For other folks that have been inside their ST-300 did you notice a hole looking that jaggged?

There's the end of the wire I plan to splice into and extend back to the connector.

Missing wire added

I added some wire and put some shrink wrap insulation on it. Every time I touched this stuff the brittle insulation cracked. I ended up going with 2 layers of insulation around it. Now I can connect to the connector. Yay!

A question to the fine folks out here - What's the thoughts on putting some silicone on the pump bolts? The transmission pump bolts had a bit of silicone gasket on them when I took this apart, probably to help combat leaking. Did it leak before? Sure, but I don't remember where. I did replace the o-ring and paper gasket as well as the front seal and other seals. I got the paper gasket wet with transmission fluid and put vaseline on the o-ring. The bolts have a metal washer on them so they appear to be correct, but is a dab of silicone on the pump bolts a good idea or bad one? I've got some Permatex ultra black which is good for transmission pans according to Permatex. I did read about other silicone that isn't so good for coming into contact with transmission fluid.

Interesting, I would've guessed there was only one wire internal to the ST-300/Jetaway. What year/model Olds did this come out of? Is that 2nd wire for the "switch pitch" converter used on some of the pre-'68s? The Jetaway that came out of my '68 Cutlass has only one wire external (didn't pay much attention to the innards when I dropped the pan to drain the fluid).

In any case, you are much more ambitious than I. I see you are only ~3-1/2 hours from me, if you want my old Jetaway for parts, its yours if you come pick it up. It was running fine when I pulled it w/ 117,000 miles, fluid always changed at proper interval, just leaking alot.
