Pilot bearing adapter

Pilot bearing adapter
Have any of you guys used a pilot bearing adapter like the one offered by Supercars Unlimited? If so, did it work OK? Is it much trouble to install? I realize a hole will have to be drilled in the crank for clearance. Thanks

This question has been posted here many times, but bears repeating......a lot of folks have used them and have had good luck.
I was not one of them.
Using all factory parts, I installed that bearing in my 442. After the install, I could not shift into reverse without grinding.
The torque converter recess that the conversion bearing fits into was not concentric with the crank center line (verified by my machine shop).
I had to pull the engine and transmission, pull the crank out, and have it bored for the correct roller bearing (BCA7109).
If I had to do it over, I would do it right the first time.
The conversion bearings are chineseum crap.
If you have a lift, it makes the job somewhat bearable.
I did it on jackstands, and was a MF'er.

This is for a friend, he is reluctant to pull the engiine down with only 50,000 miles on it. And it would be done on jack stands. Would the floor shifter require additional clearance?

I tired to do mine right, but the crank grinder didn't machine the recess a constant diameter; it had less clearance toward the back. I didn't check until it was in the car and ready for the transmission.
I couldn't get the bearing to fit. I had to use a bronze bearing machined to match the incorrect recess.
My advice is to send a bearing with the crank when you have the work done.
