Which 2-speed trans? Didn't Olds replace the Jetaway w/ the TH350 in '69? Is this the original trans in the car?

In any case, assuming its the Jetaway, and that the fluid level is OK and clean, check for vacuum leaks to the modulator, or if the modulator has a vacuum leak.

If it was the modulator it would do it all the time in most cases. When was the filter last changed?

Olds used the Jetaway in '69 on low compression 350 2 bbl.in the F-85. Four bbl. high compression got a Turbo 350. In 1970 they did away with the two speed and used the Turbo 350.

Good info, still learning stuff. Interesting that the Jetaway lived on in the base trim only with the weakest V8.

Would it be possible that the modulator is connected to the wrong vacuum source? Vacuum switched by a temp sensor of sorts? Agree that the fluid and filter should be eliminated first.
