Hurst Dual Gate added to a '73-'77 Console

Have any of you ever installed the Hurst Dual Gate with the standard shifter console in the '73-'77 Cutlass? Curious what modifications you had to do to the console. If I do this, I want it to look like the way it was installed on the Hurst Olds. I am thinking I'll have to cut part of the console out.

Your biggest problem will be finding the correct top plate.

Correct. Console has to be cut to install the D/G.

The plastic top plate was reproduced many years ago because of the "finger's" tendency to break out of it, but I don't think the guy is making them any more. The one I got from him came "as molded". As in no plating or paint. I never did the conversion because of that.

You're aware the 73-77 Dual/Gate requires its own specific shift cable, right? Grp 4.047 p/n 417536. The standard floorshift cable doesn't work.

It appears as if they sell a complete Hurst Dual Gate, to fit the '73-'77 for about $600. With the top plate, cable, etc.

Hmm. Looks like a lot has changed since I was considering the D/G for my 74 350 Hurst. Looks like all I need to get is the top plate. I have the shifter, an NOS cable and a spare console.

The D/G was originally available only with the 455/Turbo 400 and requires some type of cable bracket on the transmission pan to use it with a Turbo 350. Anyone know if that's being reproduced?

I suspect the 1969-72 TH350 bracket is the same.
