How long does a rebuild last?

I picked up a Turbo 400 Today,had a warranty sticker from 2005.
How long should a rebuilt transmission last?
Who's got the best use out of their rebuild?
Thanks.

Rebulds should last upwards of 100k plus. It all depends on the quality of the parts and the builder along with use. I have a th400 and it has 10k street miles and about 100 1/4 mile runs on it. It is stil holding up very well.

I just freshened a 400 for a Friend of mine, I built the trans 5 years ago. Probably 10-15K street miles, who knows how many passes on it. The clutches looked like new, no debris in the pan. This was in a low 11 second car. If its built right and maintained correctly it will last as long as a stock one would.

Pull the pan, change the fluid and filter. If it has a phone # of who did the build maybe you could call and get some information as to what is in it.

How long it lasts has nothing to do with the calendar and everything to do with how it was used and cared for. If you can't answer that then we can't answer your question.

If it is a good core it should be worth a hundred bucks shouldn't it?

Scrap value is about $35 lol
The fluid in all the available transmissions looked great and don't smell burnt at all.
I chose the first one just for the fact I know it has been rebuilt once in the last 8 years.
After checking the other versions lying about...they all seemed like good deals...no coffee looking fluid.

You are loooking for a cranberry looking fluid in color if it's burnt. also look in the pan for flakes.
