Based on the troubleshooting I did from instructions here, it appears the switch itself is first problem.

Is it possible to have the switch rebuilt? This is a round 'pod' style switch at the carb linkage, with three terminals on it.

I have a 'wanted' ad listed in the Parts Wanted forum, hoping I could get a decent one, but was wondering if they can be rebuilt?

If you can post a clear picture of the switch it can help me give a good answer.
Some switches can easily be disassembled, cleaned, contacts polished, and reassembled. If there are steel tabs or clips holding it together, then it is likely you can do that yourself. The top, cruise, and brake light switches are good examples. The lock and window switches self destruct when opened (but JB Weld can get em closed...)
