HELP, with going into passing gear ?

I have a 70 Cutlass with a 455 and TH400 tran, What I need to know is if there is an adjustment for the kick down switch located on the gas peddal, or is it just on or off.

Any help would be appreciated,

It's just an on/off switch, but there is some slight adjustment between the switch and the bracket. You can also slot the holes in the bracket if necessary to get more adjustment. If the problem is that the kickdown isn't working at all, adjustment is unlikely to be the problem, however. Disconnect the wire at the trans and use a test light to verify that there is 12v at the harness side of the connector when the throttle is floored.

A quick fix I have done if you don't have any adjustment left is to put a piece of tubing on the post that contacts the gas pedel. Basicaly making it fatter so it turns the switch on sooner. JKaz
