H/O 4 speed Tranny
I have an inside track on a H/O 4 speed out of a ‘68 442. It is a pretty low mile unit as it was out of a car totaled in the 70s. How difficult is it to convert an AT to a manual? Also, what is a reasonable price for a tranny like that?

He doesn’t know what to ask. It came out of a Hurst Olds, I thought he said a ‘68 but might be a later year. Are the Hurst 4 speeds the same as any other 4 speed tranny out of a non-Hurst 442? He has been hanging on to it all these years and is finally ready to part with it.

Hurst made a 4 speed transmission? I'm pretty sure the OP is looking at a Muncie, possibly with a Hurst shifter to go with it.
And has been said before, all H/Os came w/ an AT w/ a Dual-Gate shifter (well, except the '83-'84s which came w/ the Lighning Rods), except that one '68 that was built for George Hurst himself (it was the "prototype" that was used to help sell the idea of a H/O to GM management). I seriously doubt that this trans the OP is looking at is that one.
WRT changing an AT car to a MT car, things you have to deal with is the 3rd pedal, Z-bar mount on the engine block for the clutch, and an engine w/ a crankshaft drilled to accept a MT. If you are converting a column shift car, depending on how good you'd like it to look, you may also want to swap the steering column and eliminate the "PRNDL" on the speedo. Of course you also need deal with re-wiring the reverse light switch, and clutch starter safety switch. If the car is a '69 or later, you also need to deal w/ the backdrive for the ignition key lock.
For a trans from a wrecked car that's been sitting for 40 years, I'd offer no more than $100.

Thanks guys. I misunderstood, it is a Muncie with the Hurst shifter. Sounds like tranny is worth $500 plus Muncie shifter, so somewhere between $500 and $1000 total? I like the idea of a conversion but I will have to look into the crank issue and see what that involves. I have a ‘68 with console shifter so that sounds like best case scenario for a conversion candidate.
