Dual Gate Top Plate Screws Needed

Hi Guys,

I didn't think anyone would notice if I put this in the parts wanted section since it's so trivial. Anyone know where I can buy the three screws that hold the Dual Gate top plate to the console/shifter (70-72)....or can someone sell me them? My friend needed a top plate for his car last year so I gave him mine...with the screws. Now I found a good used top plate, but no longer have the screws.

thanks,
bob

I'll check my bag,but I think the correct screws are #10 1 1/4" long. I supply these with the restored dual-gate consoles that I sell,so I've been through this before. They have to be long enough to pass through the top plate, then the console, then into the fasteners on the shifter. That particular screw can be purchased at Lowes,in the stainless bin.

I recently removed my console to work on a wiring harness. Here's a pic of a dual gate top-plate screw Brian mentions. For some reason, my plate has only one 1-1/4" screw while the other 2 are shorter (with same tapered head).

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info. I went down to the local hardware store and got both 1" and 1.25" lenghts. Last night I tried using some screws I found in my junk box and found that the single screw in the back has to be longer than the two up front. Doesn't mean three long ones won't work. I used 1" up front and they fit fine....but wouldn't catch in the rear hole. So now that I have both sizes I'll probably just use all 1.25" screws. Now if it would just stop raining so I could go play......

Thanks again,
bob

If you look at the dual-gate body, the mounting hole in the back is on a tab that steps down, and is farther away from the console, thus the reason for needing a little more reach.I just get one pack of the 1 1/4" screws, but yes,you can use shorter ones in the front.
