detailed instructions

I am looking for detailed instructions / pictures etc on the process to swap my current automatic gear shifter (on the steering column) to a floor based hurst shifter. Also will a gate shifter work on the normal cutlass tranny?

I can't find any serials on the transmission yet - so any help on that would be really helpful.

ciao

L

You have two choices with the column. You can either just remove the pin holding the shifter arm in place and leave it at that or replace the column with one from a floor shift car.
The transmission will work just fine. All you'll need to the correct linkage piece to bolt to the transmission shaft and the bracket to bolt to the pan rail to hold the cable in place.

I found out last night that is is the TH400 tranny - and I found some instructions from Hurst on the conversion - so question becomes do I go with Hurst ratchet shifter or gate shifter?

thoughts?

gm built them to last. I would look for a stock floor shift from what ever year you have and a console to match it. the dual gate is a nice shifter but can be alot of money. You can . Have not had the best luck with the b&m shifter I had in the past
all the springs and prawls were junk in no time and it would hang up and not hift half the time.
