Console gearshift detent button

I had to remove the T handle from the lever in order to remove the console in my 65 Cutlass. Unfortunately when it came apart I wasn't able to see how the button connected to the rod that operates the detent and I can't find any explanation or pictures of how to put it back together in the SM. Can anyone provide me with some assembly pictures or instructions.

The detent rod has a roller at the top. The button has a ramp that simply pushes the roller (and thus the detent rod) down when you press in on the button. Just put the button and spring in the T-handle, bolt the handle in place, and you're done. Unfortunately, the ears on the handle that hold the roller frequently break, rendering this system unworkable.
