Is this the BOP version of the TH-350?

I was told this core came out of a 70 Cutlass and needed a rebuild. It was paired with a big block. None of it was original to the owner's car. I just want to make sure its a BOP transmission before I move forward. The price was very reasonable: $50.00. Once got it home I noticed it was missing all but 2 pan screws, the vacuum connection and the shift linkage. Thanks for your help.

A pic of the pan bottom will tell the tale. It is BOP and Chevy adaptable. Nice score for $50.

Also post a picture of the entire right side of the case. Trying to confirm that it isn't a TH250 with an external band adjustment. Post a picture of the entire left side of the case to determine if it has a lockup torque converter electrical connection.

What is it going in? The tail shaft length may necessitate driveshaft mods.

X2 on a good score for $50!

Bottom of trans. Also it has no 4 pin electrical connector for a locking torque converter. Thats OK. I will be happy with a 3 speed. Nice upgrade from the 2 speed Jet Away. No OD is not a deal breaker either. I am ditching my original TH-300. The TH-350 is so much more supported. This is one of the last big projects for a marathon restoration. Its a 1966 Sports Coupe with its original 330. Bench seat, pb, ps and AC. 75 K on car. I am the second owner. Tail end of a frame off.

Nice, it's a 350. You will be able to use your existing drive shaft as well. I did this upgrade when I had my 66 442.
You will need a kickdown cable and a similar bracket for the carb. This one will probably work, good luck.

Once you get that trans installed, the car will feel like it has an extra 50hp just from the lower 1st gear. Win win!

First of all, that trans was NOT born in a 1970 car. The unisex TH350 cases didn't exist in 1970. Find the VIN derivative stamp on the trans case, which will tell you exactly where it came from. The VIN derivative stamp for an Olds TH350 will be located on the driver's side of the case, just above the pan rail. Second character is the model year.

The two letter trans code will be stamped into the servo cover on the passenger side.

I pulled that trans out of my 71 Cutlass. It is definitely a turbo 350. I don't know if it was the original trans that came from Olds but it was in the car when I got it. Definitely does fit an Olds motor. Sorry I didn't realize that the pan bolts weren't in there it's been a few years since I pulled it. I'll look around and see if I have them bagged somewhere. Good luck with the build.

44Hxxxxxx is a 1974 Buick from Flint, MI. The 71 LA code on the servo cover is correct for a 1971 Cutlass, so at a minimum that cover was swapped from the old trans.

Just so I understand, later Olds A bodies used a cable to the pedal, correct, for the th350, but, this being a 66 will not have that pedal, so better to hook it Chevy style to the carb?

All 69-72 Olds A-body cars with TH350 ran the kickdown cable through the firewall to the accelerator. You can adapt this to a 68, but not to earlier cars, so yes you need the bracket that runs the cable to the carb. Later Oldsmobiles with TH350 also did this.
